It is a state of mind, an effect of the will, a quality of imagination, an emotive intensity, a victory of courage over timidity, the taste of the adventure over the love of comfort.
One does not become old to have lived a certain number of years. One becomes old because his ideal was deserted. The years wrinkle the skin; to give up its ideal wrinkles the heart.
The concerns, the doubts, fears and despairs are the enemies who, slowly, make us lean towards the ground and become dust before death.
Young person is that which is astonished and is filled with
wonder. He asks, like the insatiable child: " And afterwards? " He
defies the events and finds the joy with the play of the life.
You are as young as your faith. As old as your doubt.
As young as your confidence in yourself. As young as your
hope. As old as your abatement.
You will remain young as long as you will be receptive. Receptive with what is beautiful, good and large. Receptive with the messages of nature, the man and the infinite one.
And if one day your heart were going to be bitten by pessimism and to be corroded by cynicism, can God have pity of your heart of old man.
