A question of attitude!
Jerry is manager in the restoration in Philadelphia. He is
always of good mood and has always something of positive to say. When
it is asked him how it goes, it always answers: " If I were better
than that, we would be two: my twin and me! "
When it moves, several servers and waitresses are ready to release their job to follow it from a restaurant with another for the only reason which they admire his attitude. He is a natural motivator. When an employee spins a bad cotton, Jerry is always there to show to him the good side of the things. Curious, I went to see Jerry one day to ask him: " I do not understand. It is not possible to be always positive like that, everywhere, all the time. How make you? " And Jerry to answer: " Every morning with my alarm clock, I think that, today, or well I choose to be of good mood, or well I choose to be of bad mood. I always choose to be of good mood. When it arrives some deplorable incident, or well I choose to be the victim for it, or well I choose to learn a lesson from it. When somebody comes to complain with me, or well I choose to hear his complaint, or well I try to show to him the good side of the thing. " " But it is not always so easy ", say to him I. And Jerry to connect: " the life, it is a question of choice. One chooses his way of reacting to the situations. One chooses how the others can influence us or not. One chooses to be of good mood or bad mood. One chooses food his life in the manner which is appropriate to us. " Several years later, I intend to say that Jerry incidentally did what one should never do in the restoration: it left unbolted the gate postpones restaurant a good morning and it was made surprise by three armed robbers. While trying to open the strong trunk, its trembling hand of nervousness, it did not manage to make the numerical combination. One of the intruders panicked and drew. Fortunately for Jerry, the things did not trail and it was quickly transported to the hospital. After eighteen hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry received his leave of the hospital with remains of the ball which one had not succeeded in withdrawing to him from the body. I re-examined Jerry six months after the incident and I asked him how it reacted to all that. " If I were better than that, says it, we would be two: my twin and me. You want to see the scars? " I did not want to see the wound but I asked him what had passed to him by the head at the time of the flight. And Jerry of saying: " the first thing which came to me to the idea is that I should have closed with key the back gate of the restaurant. And then, wide on the floor after me to be made drawn a ball, I remembered that I could still make a choice: or well of living or dying well. And I chose to live. " " Were not you afraid? " say to him I. And him to answer: " the ambulance men were quite correct. They did not cease saying to me that all was well. But while entering the operating theatre suite of the hospital, I saw the facial expression of the doctors and of the nurses and, there, I was afraid. I saw in their eyes that I was a dead man and I knew that I was to act quickly. " " And then, that did you make? " " Eh well, my friend, there was a large nurse who bombarded me questions; it wanted to know if I were allergic to something. I said yes, and the doctors and the nurses stopped to hear what I was going to say to them. I took a deep breathing and I said to them that I was allergic to the balls of rifle! When they ceased laughing, I said to them that I had made the choice live and that they would make better operate me as if I were a man living rather than a dead man! " Jerry survived thanks to the expertise of the doctors but also thanks to his astonishing attitude! I learned from him that, at the every day, we must make choices: or to benefit well fully from the life or to be bored there as long as one wants. The only thing which belongs to us and which nobody cannot control, nor us to remove, they are our attitudes. Then, when one can cultivate positive attitudes, all the remainder is small beer. Now, it is with you to choose: 1 or well you make disappear this message 2 or well to you convey it with people who are close for you. I chose the second option and I dare to believe that you will do as much of it.
